Painting Affirmations with Incarcerated Teens in the Bronx

On May 8, 2012, Arts & Dreams returned to the Bronx to share two affirmation painting workshops at Passages Academy, NYC Department of Education's school program serving incarcerated and detained youth.
For inspiration: affirmation art and Louise Hay's Power Thoughts and Power Thoughts for Teens cards.
Along with the ideas we imparted to the students about loving yourself and using art to expand that love, we also let them know that all they've been through becomes a strength, unique to them, that they can use to help others. Both the students and some faculty members created gorgeous, uplifting art.

Thank you, everyone at Passages Academy, Literacy for Incarcerated Teens, and Librarian Ms. Anja Kennedy, for making this magical visit happen.
